Ana Isabel Mallheiro
Ana Isabel Malheiro was born in Braga in 1997 and began studying music at Braga’s Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory in 2003, in professor Manuel Sa’s violin class where she got her Grade 8 in violin in 2015.She then enrolled in ESMAE (Porto’s School of Music and the Performing Arts) that same year, in Professor Vitor Vieira’s violin class, where she is still currently studying. During her academic career, she has had the privilege of working with many maestros, such as Joana Carneiro, Jean-Sébastien Bereau, Jean-Marc Burfin, Martin André, Ernst Schelle, Pedro Carneiro, among others, having also had the opportunity to study one-to-one classes and take part in masterclasses with Ilya Grubert, Zofia Wóycicka, José Pereira, Nuno Soares, Jenny Spanoghe, Arik Braude, Helge Slaatto, Peter Stark, among others. She is currently in her third year of her Violin degree at ESMAE.
Maria Laranjo was born in 1996 and is from Pragal (Almada). She began studying violin at 6 years old with Professor Rui Fernandes. She was a member of the “Os Violinhos” Orchestra from 2003 to 2014, having taken part in countless concerts, recitals and tours both in Portugal and abroad. She was a member of the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra – Zero in 2010 and 2011. She was a permanent member of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra from 2010 to 2014, where she was a soloist in a concert during the 2012/2013 season. She has attended masterclasses with professors Aníbal Lima, José Paulo Jesus, Roberto Valdés, David Russel, Alf Richard Kraggerud, Stephan Barratt-Due, Hugo Tacciano, Dora Schwarzberg and Peter Stark. She was a grant-winner of the EDP Foundation – Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013 and 2014. She received a grant from Lisbon’s Academy of Music for four academic years: from 2008/2009 to 2011/2012. In 2014, she joined the renowned Barratt Due Institute of Music’s training program (the Barratt Due Young Talent program), in Oslo, and in 2015, she was accepted onto the first year of a degree at this very institution, where she has had the opportunity to work with professors such as Camilla Kjøll, Bjarne Magnus Jensen, Bård Monsen, Vilde Frang and Henning Kraggerud. She has also taken part in a Norwegian Music Festival, the “Valdres Festival”, for two years running. She enrolled in ESMAE in 2016, where she is currently studying with Professor Vítor Vieira. Over these past two years, she has had the opportunity to collaborate with the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, Orquestra da Casa da Música, Remix Ensemble and Orquestra Clássica de Espinho.
Margarida Monteiro was born in 1997. In 2009, she was accepted to study a Basic Instrument Course, in Professor Nuno Soares’ violin class, at Espinho’s Professional School of Music, where she obtained her grade 7 Violin. In 2014, she enrolled in Professor Trevor McTait’s viola’s class. In 2015, she enrolled in ESMAE (Porto’s School of Music and the Performing Arts), in professors’ Ryszard Wóycicki and Jorge Alves’ class. She has taken part in violin masterclasses led by Alexander Trostiansky, Yuri Nasushkin, Ani Schnarch, Natalia Lomeiko, and in viola masterclasses led by António José Pereira, David Lloyd, Anabela Chaves, Jerzy Kosmala, Avri Levitan, Walter Küssner and Isabel Charisius. During her career, she has had the opportunity to work with maestros Pedro Neves, António Saiote, Roberto Valdés, Pedro Meireles, José Eduardo Gomes, Rui Pinheiro, Cesário Costa, Sérgio Alapont, Jean-Sébastien Béreau, Jean-Marc Burfin, Javier Viceiro, Ivo Venkov, Thomas Hauschild, to name a few. She has also taken part in Jazz projects where she has had the opportunity to work with Taylor Ho Bynum, Tomeka Reid, Jamie Baum, Jack Lober, Jeff Hiershfield, Luis Perdomo, Jeff Lederer, Joe Fiedler, Mary Larose Nick Dunston and Jason Moran. She is currently in the third year of her Viola degree at ESMAE.
José Tiago Silva
José Tiago Silva was born in Lisbon in May 1999. He began studying music when he was 11 years old with Professor Ricardo Mota at Lisbon’s Academy of Music, where he also studied with Professor Marco Pereira. He has attended different masterclasses in Portugal and abroad, namely with professors: Marco Pereira, Xavier Gagnepain, Edgar Moreau, Levon Mouradian, Orlando Theuler, Daniel Grosgurin, Maria de Macedo, Paulo Gaio Lima and Ole-Eirik Ree. He has also attended chamber music masterclasses with the Armida Quartet. He joined the OSJ, JOP and the Camerata of Lisbon’s Academy of Music, having performed in the greatest concert halls in Portugal, Spain, Romania, Switzerland and Norway. He is currently studying the first year of his degree at ESMAE, where he is studying with Professor Filipe Quaresma.
