The Bomtempo Orchestra began its activity in the season of 2017/2018. Domingos Bomtempo (1775-1842),besides being a composer and pianist, was a great promoter in creation of new institutions in Portugal, such as “Sociedade Filarmónica de Concertos” and “Conservatório Nacional”. The Bomtempo Orchestra was created to honor one of the most importante figures in the history of music in Portugal and also to associate this project, promoted by “Conservatório de Música e Artes do Centro”, to the dissemination of portuguese orchestral music and the renewing spirit of this composer. In this first season of activity it has performed in Ourém, Batalha, Fátima, Pombal and participated in the “Festival de Música do Centro”, in a concert with the guitarist João Robim. Cesário Costa is the Bomtempo Orchestra’s Principal Conductor and Artistic Director.
